updates

Camryn is 2 months old today. Where does the time go? I swear if pregnancy went half as fast as the first few months of the baby's life it would make it sooo much easier! Life is good around here. Camryn has been sleeping through the night since she was 4 weeks old. We get up and play and eat and sleep. and then do the same things all over again the next day. *lather, rinse, repeat* and I love every minute of it. She goes on monday for her first set of shots :(. I'm sure that won't be much fun, but I know she has to have them. I'm also going to ask her doctor about getting her ears pierced. I know some pediatricians do that in their office, so I'm hoping they do too. If not, I will probably do it within a few weeks. I want to do it before she's old enough to mess with them while they heal. I've gone back and fourth about whether or not I wanted to do them as a baby or wait until she's old enough to ask for them. Well I was at the mall today. A 4 year old was in Claire's getting her ears pierced. Well, she was suppose to be getting her ears pierced. She wanted them pierced, but she was scared to death. I left before I found out if she went through with it or not, and decided right then that if Camryn's going to have pierced ears its going to be sooner rather then later. So anyhow. That's the latest from our household. Carter is a talking fool now, can't get him to be quiet ;) finally! yay!

love this mom stuff

so not too much to update on. i'm holding camryn right now, so please excuse the typos and the fact that my shift key doesn't want to work. we've been spending a ton of time in the pool lately. carter has learned to swim with assistance of floaties and an innertube, so we just let him go at it pretty much all day everyday. I've been setting camryn in the shade out there next to the pool too, and she just snoozes away. I, unfortunitly, learned the hard way that sitting in the shade doesn not guarentee that she won't get burned though. poor baby got a sun burn on her face and legs on friday while we were out there. I had read that you aren't suppose to put sunscreen on them before they're a few months old. well guess what? I'm not listening to that advice anymore. she didn't seemed bothered by it at all, which is good, because it broke my heart to see her red little nose every time i looked at her. she's recovered now, with just a little bit of peeling on her nose.

we are planning to go to the rolla carinival sometime this week. hopefully i'll have some good pictures to post. until then, chow!

Maybe I'm lucky, maybe I'm just laid back....

but this two kid thing is not as hard as I thought it would be. Maybe I'm just lucky that I have been blessed with two easy kids, or maybe I'm just really laid back and don't let things bother me. Everything is going great. Camryn is a champion eater and sleeper and I guess that makes everything that much easier. Carter is still doing well with her. He now calls her "CC" which I believe means 'sissy'. He is sorta helpful too. He will try to stick her binky back in her mouth when it falls out, but if she doesn't take it right away he gets mad at her hehe. He also wants to hold her all the time...for about 30 seconds at a time. That always turns out to be more work then it is worth, but I do try to let him hold her a few times a day. She is sleeping pretty good at night 4-5 hour stretches, which means only having to get up 1-2 times a night. Sometimes she has a little trouble going back to sleep, so that requires some extra effort on my end, but I'm doing good. I don't feel sleep deprived yet. Carter still sleeps 12 hours at night, so that is a MAJOR help. he goes to bed between 8 & 9 and gets up between 8 & 9 in the morning. He usually comes and gets in our bed at that time, and then I feed Camryn while he watches tv. She'll go back to sleep and him and I will get up and go eat breakfast. Camryn sleeps for a couple more hours so that gives me a chance to spend time with carter in the morning and get stuff around the house done. If clayton is home in the mornings he will get up with carter and get him breakfast and let me sleep some more if I want to.

I took both kids grocery shopping today. It wasn't too bad. The hardest part is the darn shopping carts just aren't big enough to put both of them and all the groceries in there. Carter is really good about staying with me if he's walking, but he still wonders a little. So if I'm trying to look at something I have to have one eye on him and one eye on whatever I'm looking at ;). We went to Aldi's and the first thing we see when we walk through the door is a carton of strawberries. Carter LOVES strawberries, so he puts them in the cart. Then he decides that he wants in the cart too. so I set him in the basket part. Camryn is in her car seat in the top part of the cart. I can't really see carter in the basket because the car seat is in the way. When I do look at him I notice that he has gotten the carton of strawberries opened and has already ate 3 of them! OMG. I hope those things don't have too many pesticides on them. Of course, taking them away from him at this point is not an option if I want to avoid a minor melt down in the middle of Aldi's. So i just let him go to town. He ate the whole carton before we were done in there. AND, I don't know what the cashier did with the carton, because I put it on the belt to pay for it, but it wasn't in the bags when I got home. I don't know if we got a free carton or what happened..lol Oh, and I also got the pleasure of cleaning about 20 strawberry stems out of the shopping cart so the lady behind me didn't have to have her groceries set on top of them. Next time, I will hide the strawberries before they go in the cart. or I will find a less messy snack for grocery shopping..hehe.

She's here!

Camryn June has arrived!

8 lbs 11 oz 21 1/2 inches long

here's the story:

On Thursday I went to the doctor for my 40 wk appointment. My doctor did an ultrasound and asked what I wanted to do. I said, get her outta me! So, at 8 am on may 22nd we got to the hospital for an induction. We got checked in and started pitocin around 9am. About 10am my doctor came in to break my water and I asked her if I could have an epidural first. She was reluctant at first, but then we discussed how my first labor was so fast I had to go natural with no pain meds, not something I wanted to repeat. So she agreed to let me get the epi. About 11 am the epi was in, and I still hadn't felt one bit of pain. I was enjoying every minute of the epi! It was the best thing ever! At 12pm my doctor came back to break my water. I was 4 cm at that point. At 1 pm, I was checked and at 5cm. At 1:50 I was checked again and at 6cm. I still hadn't felt a contraction. A few minutes later I started to feel a little pressure and a couple of contractions. I asked my husband to check the monitor to see if they were getting stronger and he said not really. So I asked the nurse if she could turn my epi up a little. She said she would call anesthesia but first she needed to check me to make sure it wasn't time to push. Sure enough, I was complete. My doctor came in about 5 minutes later, said the baby was right there. I jokingly asked her, "right there? like one push right there?" she laughed and said it depends on how well you push. I still wasn't feeling too much pain. I felt a couple of contractions, but nothing compared to what I felt when I was in transition with Carter..So the next contraction I pushed and watched in the mirror as her head came out. One more push and she was born at 2:35 pm. It was SO EASY! I kept telling everyone that I could do that everyday. It was better then I ever could have wished or prayed for.
Did I mention I loved the epidural??!
She is a great baby. she sleeps and eats and that's about it. She is sleeping about 3-4 hours at night between feedings which is just awesome. Carter is adjusting well. He's getting used to the idea of her not going away. He likes to give her kisses and play with her fingers. The dog, well, he's having issues, but he'll get used to it eventually ;).

not much happening

not much going on around here. We had some crazy storms on Friday and that's been the excitement for this week. Yes, I'm still pregnant. I'm thinking I'll probably be that way until my due date. Apparently I have a loving and hospitable uterus :P

Here's a couple random pictures. enjoy!
the wind blew over carter's play place on friday. Several trees in our subdivision also were up-rooted.

Yes, I have three chins these days. I'm hoping that I can at least leave one of them behind at the hospital!

it's a waiting game now....

So Thursday marked "full term" day for me! That means any time in the next 3 weeks I should have a baby girl in my arms. I'm still feeling really good, so I can't complain too much about still being pregnant. But I'm not complaining if she decides to make an appearance before her due date either because I'm definitely ready to not be pregnant anymore. Now, if she doesn't get her by the due date, well then I will be complaining!
I've got her room pretty much the way I want it. I'd like to add a few minor details, but I haven't found "them" yet, so who knows when I'll get to that ;). Clayton and I have been doing a ton of walking lately, but they are calling for rain for like the next century, so walking doesn't look like it is going to happen everyday. I go back to the doctor on Thursday, and I'm hoping to be like 4 cm dilated and just get sent to the hospital ;) I doubt it will happen but it's worth hoping for.
I really don't have much else to update on. I feel like all I'm doing is sitting around waiting. Hopefully the wait won't be much longer!

'Hi daddy train!'

Clayton has gone by the house on a train a couple times in the past month or so. Each time he does, I take carter out on the back deck and we wave and say hi to daddy. I don't think he can see that it is his daddy in the train, so I don't know if he gets it. Tonight after clayton left for work a train went by and carter ran to the window and yelled "hi daddy train!!!!" "hi daddy" "Hi daddy train!" Clayton was not on the train and I tried to explain to him that it wasn't daddy's train but he insisted it was "daddy train". So I guess now everytime Clayton is gone and a train goes by it will be a daddy train.

Carter is also learning his ABCs. Not neccessarily in that order, but he can pick out most of them when asked, and knows how to say most of them when we ask him to. Which is a huge accomplishment considering he is still on the lower side of "average" for language development. I'm so proud of him and how excited he is about letters! He has come a long way with his words and is starting to use small sentences also, so we are seeing tons of improvement in that area. He is also saying 'baby' now. It is sooo freaking cute the way he says it. I'll add a video of him playing with his letters and saying baby. it's kinda long, but nothing exciting happens after the 1 minute mark, so if you don't want to watch it all you won't miss anything ;P

We did go and visit the Easter bunny last week. He was not a huge fan of him. He was okay with giving him a high five, he was even ok with hugging him. But he was not having the whole sitting on his lap thing. So we ended up with a crying Carter picture, and an Easter bunny who looks like he is hiding behind the crying kid...lol
We had an awesome Easter too. We celebrated a day early because we knew for sure that Clayton would be home for it. The bunny came and left Carter a basket full of fun stuff. He got shorts (if it will ever freakin warm up!) from old navy, a Cars coloring set, a leap frog ABC toy, a boat for the pool, a dump truck for the sand box, and a TON of candy. The bunny also hid eggs and Carter got to hunt eggs for the first time. He thought that was super fun.
