This will be a post unlike any of the others, because it's not about Carter :)
When my dad was 16 or 17 he had a daughter. He lived in Ohio then, and didn't meet my mom until several years later. When we lived in Seattle my sister and her husband and their twin boys lived with us for awhile, she is 16 or so years older than me and this was when I was 5 or 6. Eventually they got their own home in seattle and also had another son. They moved back to Ohio a year before we moved to missouri. My dad died a few days before we moved to missouri and the last time I saw my sister was at his funeral. I was nine. I remember the time they spent living with us vaguely. I haven't seen or even talked to them in 14 years. I'm not sure why we never stayed in contact. I was little and I'm sure it was sorta weird for my sister to call her step mom and check in with her when our dad wasn't alive anymore.
I don't know what it was, but for some reason last night, something told me to look for my nephews on myspace. I wasn't completely sure I even knew their last names, it had been so long. But I tried it anyway. And low and behold I found them! How crazy is that? My heart started to race when I saw Nick's name and the town my dad grew up in listed as his home town. I was so shocked I didn't know what to do or say. So I just sent him a message and asked him if he was who I thought he was, even though I knew it had to be. My twin nephews are now almost 19 and one is a dad! That makes me a great aunt. I can hardly believe it! I don't know a lot about them, as I've only talked to my nephew Nick through a few short messages on myspace, but I'm looking forward to catching up with my sister and my nephews. It's exciting and scary at the same time. My dad was an only child and his parents have both passed away. So they are the only family I have on his side.
When I was younger I use to think that the only way I would ever see my sister again was on a Montel reunion show or something(seriously I thought that lol). But thanks to the world wide web, I get to have a connection with a piece of my family that I haven't had in years!
